With such a vast selection of supplements on the market, it can sometimes be hard to distinguish between the truly effective products and those that are not worth the packaging they come in. Here’s a short guide to the best bodybuilding supplements to help you build muscle.

HGH Supplements

Creatine

Creatine is an organic compound that can help to increase muscular hypertrophy and cell volume. It does this by hydrating the muscles and increasing the synthesis of a compound known as adenosine triphosphate or ATP. ATP essentially acts to facilitate the energy transfer between cells and this can boost energy and concentration levels, as well as providing a significant increase to muscular strength and endurance.

There is a common misconception that creatine is a performance-enhancing drug similar to steroids. This is entirely untrue and creatine is probably the most well-researched sports supplement ever created, with countless scientific studies confirming its efficacy. The cheapest and most common form of creatine is Creatine Monohydrate which is readily available from most supplement outlets.

BCAA

Branch-chained amino acids or BCAA refers to the amino acids l-leucine, l-isoleucine, and l-valine. These are essential amino acids, meaning that the body cannot synthesize them independently. In order to benefit from these amino acids they must be consumed via food or supplements.

The main benefit of BCAA is that they prevent muscle catabolism by initiating protein synthesis within the body. By adding BCAA to your workout water you are providing your body with a steady stream of ingredients it needs to recover and grow. Sipping water containing BCAA is also a good idea for people who are travelling or do not otherwise have a good quality source of protein readily available.

Citrulline Malate

Citrulline malate is an amino acid that relaxes blood vessels and acts as a vasodilator. In other words, citrulline malate is a fantastic supplement for providing a great pump while you train. Adding this supplement along with BCAA to your workout water will significantly increase the flow of nutrients, fluids, and essential amino acids to your muscles. This will give you a better pump and leave you feeling stronger and more energetic. Combining citrulline malate with a pinch of sea salt will lead to an even more pronounced effect, so be sure to try this out!

Whey Protein

As a by-product of milk, it could be argued that whey protein belongs in a food group rather than a supplement. Having said this, it is a must-have item in any muscle-building arsenal. Whey protein contains some of the highest quality proteins along with naturally-occurring growth hormones that contribute to increased protein synthesis, metabolic rate, and recovery from exercise. Most whey protein products are low in fats and carbohydrates which also makes them the perfect addition to any fat-loss regimen.

There are many pre-workout and intra-workout products on the market that contain a combination of citrulline malate, BCAA, and other useful compounds for improving blood flow, energy levels, and muscular recovery. Visit your nearest supplement outlet for more tips on how to maximise your workouts and start seeing results today.

As a personal trainer, most of my clients exhibit this behavior: train hard, but they do not give a heck of nutrition. So the time and effort you spend on training is lost. Why? Because they believe that nutrition is complicated and avoid the subject. I completely understand, because I used to be like that too.

Excercise and nutrients both should go together for best results. So if you are giving your full efforts for your workouts do not forget about getting proper nutrients. And if you are doing intenese workouts you would need a supplement to fulfil your energy needs.

Nice article on supplements! The thing is creatine is the only supplement that is proven to work like you have said and its quite cheap to buy and actually works and allows you to make results in the gym. Whey protein obviously helps to some degree but that’s mainly after your workout and over a longer period of time you will notice the benefits where as proper creatine you can notice as soon as you take it and when you are in the gym. Making sure you are doing it in cycles is very important else you start to become… Read more »
