Most feel that they just need their body and some workout clothes for the gym. However, there are many other things that are a necessity when going to the gym. These things can make your workout more effective, easier, and more fun. Here is a list of all the major accessories that every athlete needs for a day at the gym.

1. Media Player

A lot of people have much better workouts when they’re listening to music. it gets people in the zone and they have much more intense and rewarding workouts. Having your media player with you is a must. You don’t want to run into a situation where you leave the gym after realizing that you forgot to pack your MP3 player in your gym bag. It truly makes a huge difference.

2. Headphones

Headphones are just as important as the media device. Please don’t be one of those people that plays music through the speakerphone on their smartphone. It’s obnoxious. Having a decent pair of headphones is also necessary. Try to invest in some good headphones like the comfortable over the ear beats be dre. Headphones that fall out easily are just going to be a distraction.

3. Towel

Not many gyms actually supply towels. Even if they did, would you really trust them to be that clean? A lot of people like the dripping with sweat look. However, it can feel a little off-putting and it’s embarrassing to leave a piece of equipment drenched in your own sweat. Many gyms have a rule that you must wipe down any equipment after using it. Make sure to bring a towel so that you can dry yourself and your equipment off. The other people using it will thank you.

4. Shower Shoes

Most gyms have showers. While some people prefer to shower at home, those that shower at the gym should always have shower shoes. These can just be beach flip-flops. There are probably tons of germs on the shower floor like athletes foot or wart fungi that you don’t want to get on your feet.

5. Smartphone

It’s likely that everyone at the gym already has their smartphone. Why not use it? On the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store, there are many different fitness apps that can help you track your progress. These can be great tools for people that have fitness goals and needs a way to track these goals.

6. Heart Rate Monitor

This is a another great device for people that want to track their fitness. Most heart rate monitors can also double as a counter for how many calories you have burned.

All in all, there are many different things that people need when they go the gym. Working out with these accessories is a much more rewarding experience than working out without them.
