What to Expect After a Facelift

If you are getting older and you want a face that still looks younger, a facelift is sometimes the only option. If you are looking at having a facelift that requires surgery, there are a few things to consider beforehand, as it’s not always a pretty process once the facelift operation is successful.

Many people have had facelift surgery from the likes of the London Medical and Aesthetic Clinic or other clinics in their area, and they have been blessed with a younger looking face in the weeks after surgery. Of course, a younger looking face isn’t going to come about straight out of surgery and there are a few things you can expect after having a facelift, and these are outlined below.

Facelift

Nausea and Bruising

Getting a facelift doesn’t come without pain and other problems, but it is a good option for those that want a younger looking face with quicker effects than using cream and other skin care products. However, after coming out of surgery you will need a few days to recover, and you can be sure you are going to succumb to bruising and possibly nausea from the pain medication you take – although both can be treated in a variety of ways. This is a common process and will just take a little time and rest before it disappears. Bruising will often happen around the cheeks and neck, and sometimes around the eyes, and depending on how bad the bruising is will depend on how much rest you need before you are able to go about your day as normal.

Visible Incisions

How visible your incisions will depend on the type of facelift surgery you have. After a few weeks of surgery your swelling will go down and bruising should be gone. Incisions will start to clear for a natural looking face, but they can still be visible for a while after surgery. A lot of facelift patients have a natural looking face with practically invisible incisions barely a month after surgery, but it all depends on the facelift operation.

Skin Improvement and Full Recovery

Full recovery is possible within one month, but it can vary from person to person and the facelift operation they have had. After a month though, incisions would have healed and the skin will start to naturally improve to compliment the facelift. Things will start to look a lot more natural and you will be able to go out and enjoy your life as you normally would. There will still be signs of incisions and possible bruising, but it will only be a matter of time before the face starts to look natural again.

After a month the face will be back to normal and you will likely have an appointment with your plastic surgeon to make sure the process worked as it should. If there are still incisions visible at this time, or any other problems, then the surgeon will recommend further options. Otherwise, you will be able to go out and enjoy your life with a younger looking face.
