As women, our body goes through constant evolvement and changes as we grow. Moods change, habits change and we make lifestyle changes as well. A healthy diet is important to make sure our body passes through these stages healthy and in the right way. There are many food items that contribute positively to a woman’s health.

Super Food for Women

There are diet plans that incorporate these specific food products tailored for just the woman’s health. A healthy woman diet helps keep things in check such as hormonal balance, fertility, skin and hair care, body weight, mood etc. some super food recommended for a woman’s diet are:

Apples: apples are great for boosting your immunity. This sweet juicy fruit contains quercetin, an anti-oxidant that can boost up your body’s disease fighting capabilities, keeping you healthier and happier.

Broccoli: Broccoli contains vitamin c, which is important for the production of collagen, the protein that gives the skin its elasticity. It also contains beta carotene which, when converted to vitamin A, helps in cell turnover, so that fresh skin cells replace the old and damaged ones.

Potatoes: Potatoes contain healthy carbs. It contains a compound called resistant starch that helps fight fat and keep the body weight in check. It also contains potassium that keeps the blood pressure low and help fight heart diseases.

Dark chocolate: yes, I know there is a smile on your face. There is one on mine too. Apparently, eating dark chocolate everyday stops stress and help fight diseases. Eating dark chocolate causes your body to produce less cortisol, also known as the stress hormone. Cortisol can cause temporary rise in blood pressure putting your heart at risk. High levels or cortisol also cause you to be at risk of depression and obesity.

Avocados: avocados contain monounsaturated fat which helps drop weight. In a study, people who consumed more monos had about 5 pounds less belly fat than does who did not.

Whole Grain Pasta: these are loaded with vitamin B that help you convert food into energy. They also contain fibers, making you feel full fast with just little amount of food and calories.

Mushrooms: mushrooms reduce the effect of aromatase which helps in the production of estrogen, a major factor in some breast cancers. Mushrooms deliver cancer fighting anti-oxidant.

Spinach: this vegetable helps slow down the breakdown of bone that comes with ae. It is high in vitamin K, calcium and magnesium. It also contains folate, one of the B vitamins that help prevent birth defects.

Salmon: it is high in omega-3 fatty acids. These are powerful anti-inflammatory fatty acids that reduce the risk of heart diseases, arthritis and according to some research, make your baby smarter.

Olive oil: it is a healthy fat that reduces and prevents heart attacks, strokes and death caused by heart disease. Olive oil is loaded with mono unsaturated fat that lower bad low-density lipid (LDL) cholesterol and increase good high density lipids (HDL) which helps lower the risk of heart disease.

Oatmeal: these contain soluble fiber rich whole grains that helps combat heart attack and stroke due to high cholesterol. It also reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by about 22% due to its high fiber content.

Shrimps: shrimps are very rich sources of choline, a hard to get and essential nutrient. Choline is the building block of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and is therefore necessary for the structure and function of all cells. Deficiency o choline in the body has been linked to neurological disorders. It also helps reduce the risk of having breast cancer.

Almond butter: almond better is an even better choice compared to peanut butter. It contains triple the amount of vitamin E in peanut butter. Vitamin E has been researched and found to help reduce the risk of cognitive impairment and also slows down the decline caused by Alzheimer’s disease.

Green tea: Green tea contains poly phenols, an anti-oxidant that is great for detoxifying the body. It also has anti-breast cancer properties. Research shows that women who drank green tea had less urinary estrogen, a known carcinogen of the breast than those who didn’t drink green tea.

Cilantro: if you have cellulite, you are not alone. Even the fit individuals suffer from cellulite. Cellulite is simply fat pushing up against the skin and it means your skins collagen is too weak to support a smoother skin. Fresh herbs like cilantro help remedy this as well as help in detoxification and removing heavy metals from our body.
