Getting your Body Healthy through Diet and Exercise

There is absolutely no argument that getting healthy and in shape can be one of the hardest things you ever do.  For one thing, it takes a great deal of dedication and willpower to be able to stick to something long enough to see the good results it could give you.  It is also difficult because it takes sacrifice, and that is something that people are not always willing to do.  For those who are wanting to get healthy by changing their diet, this is difficult because it will force you to give up eating some of the foods you like either permanently or temporarily while you lose weight.  If you are wanting to work out to get healthy, you will have to give up some of your time that you are usually doing other things to dedicate it to working out.

Why do people get healthy?

Live longer

◦     It is a proven fact that people who take care of their bodies live longer than those who do not.  If you take care of your health and your body, it will take care of you.  The better you treat yourself, the better chance you have of living a long, healthy life.

Battle health problems

◦     There are some people who are diagnosed with very specific health problems and find out that they have to do something drastic in their lives to help combat those health problems.  For people with diseases like Diabetes, that means watching your diet.  Different health problems call for different solutions, but diet and exercise is always a winning combination.

Lose weight

◦     One of the biggest reasons that people decide to make a change in their lives and start eating better and working out is because they have a desire to lose weight.  There are many different reasons that people want to lose weight, from getting ready for an important event to losing baby weight.

Gain confidence

◦     People who eat right and exercise are already going to have more confidence than others around them because they know that they are doing what it takes to make their body a temple.  They are putting great food into their bodies and using their bodies to work out and exercise, so this helps to build the confidence in the way you live your life as well as feeling good about your physical appearance.

What are some things I can do to get healthy?

Change your eating habits

◦     Even if you don’t have weight to lose, eating healthy is still important.  You want to make sure that your body is getting all of the vitamins and minerals that it needs to sustain itself on a daily basis.  You should try to incorporate more healthy foods and water into your diet and cut out some of the junk food.  You can even find great meal plans through services like Citifit  that will give you a perfect meal plan to help you figure it out.

Get involved in an exercise routine

◦     Incorporating exercise on a regular basis is crucial if you want to get healthy.  You should exercise multiple times a week and keep your heart rate up for a specific amount of time to fully get the best results from the workout.

There are many places that you can find new workout routines and suggestions for how to eat, but the easiest way to step into a lifestyle change is by finding a system like Citifit that gives you both at once. By combining new changed eating habits with the convenience of a fun workout routine, you will be feeling healthier in no time, and you will be able to reap all of the benefits of getting healthy!

  1. I can’t agree more. I’ve been sluggish recently and have put a lot of that on the stress I’ve been feeling. Honestly though, it’s a lack of proper diet, exercise and sleep. I started working out a little more, going for a run, and am heading to the gym today. I also packed a healthier lunch and snack options for work today.

  2. I agree that “changing your eating habits” is crucial, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. My wife and I recently decided to eat mostly vegetarian (for environmental reasons) and it took a fair bit of work to learn new recipes and how to incorporate new ingredients.

In case you’re interested, I just compiled a list of 50 awesome healthy eating blogs, many of which are vegetarian (although not all). See

These are some really great resources for “clean and lean” meal ideas that can make it easier to transition towards more whole-food eating and less processed food. Hope this helps!

  3. If folks could only realize the importance of even making small changes in your diet, cut the processed, choose leaner cuts of meat, incorporating more healthy veggies. Heart health in our country is literally epidemic! It’s really just a matter of small changes and mindset. I recently wrote an article about dealing with diabetes, and in some cases reversing it.

Again, even small changes truly add up and you’ll see and feel the difference in a short amount of time. Hats off to sites like this, without our health, life is pretty sparse to say the least!
