Bridal Shower

Valentine’s Day is a great day to plan a themed wedding or wedding shower around. Love is in the air, and you will find no shortage of Valentine’s Day decor and recipes to inspire you when planning a fun Valentine’s Day themed bridal shower.

Valentine’s Day Candies

Most women enjoy receiving chocolates for Valentine’s Day. A Valentine’s Day bridal shower should be no exception. Set assorted chocolates out on pretty silver platters for your guests to enjoy.

You can also fill candy jars with a variety of other Valentine’s Day candy, such as conversation hearts. You can easily create your own beautiful candy jars by using a bit of epoxy to glue a small glass vase or bowl to a glass or silver candle stick holder. Apothecary jars of various shapes and sizes also make great candy jars. You can find apothecary jars at most craft stores.

You can make easy strawberry fudge by melting one bag of white chocolate chips in the microwave and stirring in one can of strawberry frosting. Spread into a 9×9-inch baking dish and place in refrigerator to harden. Cut into small squares.

Small boxes of conversation hearts are perfect party favors for shower guests. Set out a bowl of candy hearts so that guests can take a box before they leave.

Valentine’s Day Finger Foods

Bright red strawberries make great finger food for a Valentine’s Day bridal shower. Dip strawberries in melted chocolate or melted strawberry candy coating.

You can place hulled strawberries on skewers and add other red fruit such as red grapes or cut up pieces of watermelon. Arrange the fruit kabobs on a pretty plate or serving tray.

Valentine’s Day Drinks

Pink punch or pink lemonade make great beverages for a Valentine’s Day bridal shower.

Pink Bridal Shower Punch

  • 2 packages pink lemonade flavored Kool Aid
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 can frozen pink lemonade
  • 3 c. pineapple juice
  • 1/2 c. maraschino cherry syrup
  • 10 c. water
  • 1 liter 7-UP or Sprite

To prepare punch, mix all ingredients together in a punch bowl. To make an ice ring for the punch bowl, when making the punch, reserve 4 to 5 cups of the punch and pour into the bottom of a salad ring mold.

When ready to serve the punch, run the salad mold under cool water until ice slips out of mold and place the ice ring in the punch bowl after the punch is prepared. If desired, thin slices of lemon or lime can be placed in the ice mold before it is frozen.

Valentine’s Day Cake Pops

If you are looking for a fun alternative to traditional cake, then consider serving cake pops at the bridal shower. They are easy to make and you can make them in any color. First prepare and bake the cake mix of your choice.

For chocolate lovers, brownie mixes work great too. After the cake has cooled, crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl. You can even run it through a food processor, leaving only small crumbs.

Next stir a can of frosting into the cake crumbs until well combined. Roll the cake mixture into uniform balls. Cookie batter scoops work great for this. Place balls on waxed paper and after you are done place all of them in the freezer until they are nice and solid.

You will need a package of candy melts to frost the cake balls. You might choose pink, red, or white for Valentine’s Day, or choose more than one color for variety.

Place one bag of melts along with 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil into a microwaveable bowl and place in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir, and then microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and then microwave for 30 more seconds.

Place a small amount of melted candy coating on the end of a lollipop stick and press into a cake ball. Repeat for each cake ball. Next dip each cake ball into the melted candy coating, turning gently to coat the ball evenly.

You can also use a spoon to spoon the coating on. Let any extra drip off and set into a cake pop holder to dry. You can also add sprinkles before the coating hardens.

You can then wrap the cake pops individually in cellophane and ribbon or you can display them by inserting them into styrofoam and putting the styrofoam in the bottom of a basket.

Instead of making the cake balls you can also find heart-shaped silicone molds to make cake pops. Just bake the cake or brownie batter in the molds and then place the stick in the heart and coat with candy as described above.

Just make sure that the stick is securely stuck inside the cake before you add the coating because the cakes will break easily. Planning food for a Valentine’s Day themed bridal shower can be fun. With so many Valentine’s Day candies, cakes and other goodies to choose from, you are only limited by your imagination.
