First Aid

You cannot predict an accident. No matter how careful you are, getting injured is a sudden occurrence, which is hard to resist. But you can always take precaution by not letting the small injuries aggravate to something serious. This is possible, if medical kit is available right at the moment to attend the emergency situation.

Hence, the presence of medical aid is significant everywhere; but unfortunately very few people give attention. On many occasions, the kit misses out some of the essential elements, which makes the treatment half attended. So, here is a list of things that your kit must have to properly attend the injured person.

A headache, an allergic reaction or a small cut are some of the most common ailments that required immediate support. So, you need to have medicines and ointment that can treat these issues immediately and give instant relief. It is important to clean and re-stock all the medicines and creams because storing expired things affect negatively on health. Some of the basic items that your kits should have are as follows:

Cotton and bandages

Even if the cut is small, it is not right to leave it uncovered. So, keeping bandages and cotton in your first aid kits is unavoidable. Before applying a bandage, wash the bruised areas and clean it with cotton. Next, use adhesive bandages to protect from dirt and external impact.

It is better to store bandages of different sizes and shapes because bigger cut requires larger dressing and smaller ones are used for minute cuts or scrapes. If you have kids in home, you can dress their wound with colorful bandages, which they would love to wear rather than ripping off.

However, serious injuries like excessive bleeding that cannot be controlled using bandage should be dealt with sterile gauze and medical tape. These are rare incidences but you should always be prepared for any crisis.

Antiseptic creams and lotions

Even before wrapping the wound with bandage, cleaning the place is important and you need for that an antiseptic lotion. It is also advised not to put any cover rather applying antiseptic cream is a better idea.

Moreover, you do not even have to do so much of dressing for small scratch, simply rubbing the cream and work. So, having antibacterial cream and lotion in the kit is important. Other than these, the medical box should also have muscle creams and spray because headaches or sprain is very common and it is not necessary to visit a doctor, if it is not acute. It is better to have those creams, which directly absorbs in bloodstream through the skin.

Medicines

Of course, it is not possible to have medicines for every cause but you need to keep a few medicines that can treat fever, allergies, indigestion, body pain, and so on. These are for instant and initial support. However, if health deteriorates then it is always better to go for check-up and consult a doctor for further medication. So, keeping basic medicines and tablets in the kit is essential.

Tools

It is not possible for you to stitch an area after dressing, unless you are trained and certified. So, keeping thread or needle is not advisable; but you can always keep a pair of scissor and tweezers. It is better not to pull out any sharp object from the skin using bare hands; tweezers should be used to avoid further accidents.

You should always sterilize it before using; otherwise there are chances of infection. Nail clippers should always be kept in the box to cut nail which is injured for any reason. Ripping it off using teeth can be harmful because it can cause fungal infections, bacterial growths and warts. Do not forget to keep a thermometer to study the body temperature, at the time of fever.

These are the most important stuffs that your first aid kit must contain. However, you can include anything else because it ultimately helps to meet up an emergency state. Some professionals recommend storing instant cold pack, which does not require refrigeration, to prevent instant swelling.

You never know when you need this kit right in your hand, so stock all the medical necessities and prepare to face any health challenges.
