Varicose veins can be described as veins that are enlarged and visible through the skin. They might appear to be purple or black and twisted into knot – like cords. While varicose veins can appear anywhere in a person’s body, they are most commonly found on the legs. People who suffer from varicose veins may be quite self-conscious about their appearance and try to hide them with long pants or skirts. Additionally, there are cases where this malady can be quite painful.

Varicose Veins

If you have varicose veins, you might be able to treat them at home. That is, if they aren’t causing any problems that are more serious. You can relieve the symptoms with home treatment while also slowing down their progress and preventing complications that can include bleeding and sores. For quite a few people, home treatment is all that is needed. However, some people might need to get some sort of non-invasive treatment done. The Intermountain Vein Center of Utah is an accredited facility for understanding and treating venous diseases such as Varicose Veins, Spider Veins, Deep Vein Thrombosis, and more.

Flawless

If you want your legs to look flawless, you are not alone. Fortunately, there are quite a few things that can be done to keep your legs looking great. The first thing though is probably the one that is the simplest. Use beauty products. One of the key elements in having flawless legs is to have gorgeous skin. There are quite a few different products on the market that will help you in achieving this goal too. The list goes beyond lotions to include shimmers too. Lotions that include ingredients such as Shae or Cocoa butter and aloe have the properties that are essential for promoting skin that is healthy. Shimmers will give your legs the appearance of being tanned while not necessitating time spent in the sun.

Tone Up

Having great legs starts with a nice shape and great tone. If you are an endurance athlete, such as a bicyclist or marathon runner, you can ignore this part. If not, keep reading. Most people could do with a bit of strengthening exercises in order to highlight muscle tone and get a look that is sleek. It doesn’t matter how tall or short you are, having leg muscles that are well toned will give you the appearance of having long legs.

Slim, Smooth, and Perfect

Some people might be embarrassed if they feel that their legs and thighs are too heavy. This can be avoided by being careful about what you eat. Stay away from foods that are high in sugar, calories, and fats. These foods result in the body storing extra fats and this can ruin the shape of your legs.

At the same time, remember that hairy legs can be a nightmare. There are a number of ways to remove unwanted hair to leave your legs feeling silky smooth. If you can afford it, laser hair removal is a good option. However, not everyone can afford that. If you can’t, consider waxing, depilatory creams, or shaving. Shaving can lead to your skin being drier and you also run the risk of nicking or cutting yourself, so be careful if you go this route. Use a good shaving cream and a new, sharp razor. If you do decide to shave, make sure that you always use lotion afterwards to avoid dry skin and razor bumps or burn.

Varicose Vein Prevention

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, you can’t keep varicose veins from developing in your legs. That being said, you can keep the ones that you already have from getting worse while also taking steps to delay more from forming. Here are some tips they give.

  • Avoid sitting or standing for long periods of time. When sitting, don’t cross your legs. Make sure that your legs are raised when you are sleeping, resting, or sitting.
  • Stay physical. Participate in activities that will make your legs move and maintain your muscle tone.
  • If you have a few extra pounds, lose them.
  • Stay away from tight fitting clothes… especially clothes that are tight around your legs, groin, and waist.
  • Stay away from high heels.
  • If recommended by your doctor, wear compression stockings.
